Obituary for Joel Edgar Easter (Jack) Sr.

Joel Edgar "Jack" Easter, Sr., age 86, of 920 Rose Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Saturday, October 6, 2012 at LewisGale Hospital - Alleghany in Low Moor. He was born October 31, 1925 in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia to the late Joel Franklin and Leo Beckner Easter. Jack served in the United States Marines during World War II and the Korean War. He was a clerk for CSX Transportation and was owner of a gun shop for 61 years. He was a member of St. Stephen's Anglican Church, the Mountaineer Gun Club, the National Rifle Association and the Burnside-Carpenter VFW Post 4299. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, June Lee. He is survived by his wife, Frances Moffitt Easter of Clifton Forge; three daughters, Becky and husband James of Chesapeake, Betsy of Staunton, and Lisa and husband Patrick of Clifton Forge; a son, Jay of Williamsburg; a sister, Jane Easter of Clifton Forge; five granddaughters; two grandsons-in-law; one great granddaughter; and five great grandsons. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Father Thomas McHenry officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by members of the Burnside-Carpenter VFW Post 4299. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home.
