William Edward "Pic" Thomas Sr.
William Edward "Pic" Thomas, Sr., age 59, of 101 Vine Avenue, Clifton Forge died Monday, January 25, 2016 at his residence. He was born December 8, 1956 in Clifton Forge to Shirley Thomas Burks Mansfield and the late Glenn Burks. He was a team leader of the No. 1 Power Boiler for Westrock of Covington and a member of the First Baptist Church of Clifton Forge. He was a huge fan of the Oakland Raiders football team and loved fishing, traveling and cooking. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Cheryl Coleman. He is survived by his wife, the Reverend Roslyn Clark Thomas of Clifton Forge; his mother, Shirley Thomas Burks Mansfield and his step father, the Reverend W. Ed Mansfield of Clifton Forge; two sons, William Edward "P.J." Thomas, Jr. of Charlotte, NC and William Anthony Webb of Roanoke; a sister, Teresa Johnson and her husband, the Reverend Robert Johnson of Clifton Forge; two brothers, Brian Burks and Shawn Burks, both of North Carolina; one grandchild; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 1:00 PM in First Baptist Church, Clifton Forge with Dr. Arnita Fowler officiating, assisted by Reverend Roslyn Thomas. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Johnson, Gilbert Davis, Sr., Ozzie Hostetter, Todd Watson, Melvin Christian and Al Chambers. Honorary pallbearers will be Elijah Broady, Attell Allen and Tommy Slusser. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
