Obituary for Clayton Frederick Lofland

Clayton Frederick Lofland, age 73, of 1253 Ashburn Drive, Forest died Saturday, October 22, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 4, 1943, a son of the late Frederick Howard Lofland and Helen Melling Lofland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Howard Lofland. Clay was a retired letter carrier with the United States Postal Service for over 25 years. He was an active member of the Blue Ridge Community Church of Forest where he served as an Usher and on the Divorce Care Ministry. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967 at Naval Station “GTMO” Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. He was an avid Miami Heat and University of Miami fan. He is survived by his wife Barbara Carol Clark Lofland of Forest; a son Kenneth David Lofland and a daughter Aimee Diane Richards & her husband Todd all of Omaha, Nebraska; a number of nieces and nephews. In keeping with his wishes, his body was cremated. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Thursday evening, October 27, 2016 at 6:00 P.M. from the Blue Ridge Community Church, 2361 New London Road, Forest, with Pastor Jack Dunn officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the A.L.S. Foundation, 1275 K Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20005.
