James Walter Hall
James Walter “Jungle Jim” Hall, age 72, of 69 Alleghany Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at his residence. He was born August 28, 1944 in Richlands, Virginia to the late Melvin C. and Mildred Hurst Hall. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and was a security guard for G4S. He was a member of the Clifton Forge Moose Lodge # 1683, and the Burnside-Carpenter VFW Post 4299. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Patsy Dodd Hall, and a granddaughter, Emma Terry. He is survived by a daughter, Amy Angle of Eagle Rock; his step children, Rebecca Smith of Clifton Forge, Jean Smith of Clifton Forge, Kathy Hopkins and husband Shane of Louisville, KY, David Smith of Clifton Forge, and Wesley Smith and wife Starlet of Clifton Forge; a sister, Alta Wolfe and husband Floyd of Covington; two brothers Melvin Ray Hall and wife Sandra of Bluefield, and Alan Hall and wife Judy of Tennessee; fourteen grandchildren, Mary Lipes, Bobby Smith, Patsy Smith, Amanda Martin, Tiffany Walton, Shannon Smith, Joshua Cross, Bryan Cross, Eddie Cross, Leslie Hoke, Travis Smith, Brittany Smith, Brandon Berry, and Hattie Beard; thirty three great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 2:30 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Edith Snedegar. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home.
