Every time I went to Jack and Shelby's house, I always ended up sitting on the step that goes into the kitchen. She would always say she remembered me sitting there as a young kid, and she'd laugh. Then she'd get a serious look on her face and ask me if I still pulled the legs off Granddaddy spiders.
I don't think I was ever there that she didn't remind me of doing that. Honestly I'm scared to death of spiders and I don't remember pulling the legs off Granddaddy spiders, but she remembered and she never let me forget it.
I remember Shelby when her and Uncle Jack were dating. We lived in that house at the time, Jack would pick her up and bring her up on the hill then he'd go to work at the Esso station in Clifton. The he would come pick her up after work. I was just a kid, but even I could see how much in love they were.
I always think of her with her hair pulled up with tiny white flowers in it. I'd like to think she's walking in a garden today with tiny white flowers in her hair.
I thought she was beautiful. She was.......
