I first met Ruth at an open house at Webutuck Central School. Ruth's husband Bill was instrumental in centralizing Amenia and Millerton High Schools. Bill had more foresight than most citizens in the local area. He was also the first farmer in the region to have a "milking parlor", which greatly improved the efficiency of milking cows.
Ruth always made both her sons Bruce and William did well in school. ruth was always patient, kind and sound in evaluating each situation. Ruth and I met again when I ended in the Sharon Hospital Emercency Room, hooking me up with an EKG after having a fainting spell after work. Again, Ruth's demeanor was understanding and efficient in allowing me to be calm and relaxed. Ruth's consideration for others was always a trait to admire. Ruth lived as a very caring community member and will be remebered in Amenia's past.
