Obituary for Nancy Jane Nicely (Hambrick)

Nancy Jane Hambrick Nicely, age 84, of 4505 Longdale Furnace Road, Clifton Forge, died Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation Center in Low Moor. Nancy was born on April 5, 1933, in Clifton Forge, to the late Marvin Wesley Hambrick, Sr., and Madeline Dill Hambrick. She was a retired X-Ray Technician for the C&O Hospital before opening The Shoe Box and Sports Center in Covington with her husband, Carl, which they operated for many years. She was a member of the Clifton Forge Baptist Church where she was a member of the Marian Fields Missionary Circle. She was also a member of the Red Hat Belle Society and served as the Queen Mother. She also loved to travel and enjoyed the company of her many cats. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Nicely; a sister, Julia Eloise Hambrick; a brother, Marvin W. Hambrick, Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Sarah Hambrick. “Aunt” Nancy is survived by many family members within the Nicely clan who were very dear to her and Carl over the years. She is also survived by two special nieces, Lori Nicely-Moore and Marcia Hambrick Wham (and husband Ken) both of Clifton Forge; two special nephews, Nolan R. Nicely, Jr. (and wife Hope) of Clifton Forge and the Rev. Mark Hambrick (and wife Devona) of Newport News; six great nieces and nephews - Amy H. Young (Tim), Lori H. Rowsey (Allen), Cedar Moore, Laurel Moore, Nolan Nicely, III, Asher Nicely, and great-great nieces and nephews - Sarah Young, Jacob Young and Lilah Rowsey. Nancy is also survived by her best friend, Maria Necolau, of Covington, VA. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with the Reverend Matthew O’Meara officiating, assisted by the Reverend Mark Hambrick and Reverend Bill Hartsfield. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Alleghany Memorial Park in Low Moor. Pallbearers will be Nolan R. Nicely, Jr., Freddie Martin, Steve Brackenridge, Colby Trammell, Tim Young, Allen Rowsey, Eddie Herron and Andrew Pope. Family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, Virginia 24422.
