Obituary for Edna Mae Tingler (Boguess)

Edna Mae Boguess Milton Tingler, age 86, of 315 Commerce Avenue, Iron Gate, Virginia died on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the home of her son and daughter in Chesterfield County, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born June 16, 1931 in Botetourt County to the late Lee and Daisy Broughman Boguess. For many years, Edna worked for the Petersburg Public School System in the cafeteria, and was owner/operator of her own in-home daycare, Little People’s University, in Petersburg. She was also a licensed cosmetologist and a member of Iron Gate Church of God of Prophecy. She volunteered with League of Older Americans at The Brian Center Health and Rehab. In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence W. “Frisky” Milton, Sr.; a son, Clarence W. “Junnie” Milton, Jr.; three sisters, Thelma Campbell, Betty Clark, and Marie Boguess; and a brother, Alfred Boguess. She is survived by her current husband, William “Bill” Tingler of Iron Gate; a daughter, Gail M. Gibson (Robert) of Christiansburg, and a son, Burton D. Milton (Tamara) of Chesterfield County; a stepdaughter, Carolyn T. Snyder (Andy); five grandchildren, Brandy M Graham (James), Jennifer Jordan (Mike), Jessica Gibson Morgan (Joe), Brittany M. Johnson, and Bethany M. Thompson (Blake); a step grandson, Andy “Buck” Snyder, Jr.; five great grandchildren, Bryanna Graham, Aryanna Graham, Katalin Gibson, Andrew Gibson, and Sierra Jordan; a great-great grandchild, Nicole; two sisters, Elizabeth “Libby’ McCoy and Martha Simmons; former spouse, Frank L. Saunders; and a number of nieces and nephews. Edna’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Jessica from AmeriCare Alleghany Virginia and to Paulina and Saba from Care Family of Virginia, all of Colonial Heights, and also the staff of Encompass in Petersburg and James River Hospice in Richmond. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Edith Snedegar officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Botetourt County. Edna’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
