Obituary for Homer Madison "Dickie" Warren Sr.

Homer Madison “Dickie” Warren, Sr., age 85, of 1310 Richmond Street, Selma, Virginia died Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem. He was born in Clifton Forge on October 31, 1932, a son of the late Homer W. and Lilly Cora Kern Warren. He was a retired conductor with CSX Transportation, a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, and a life member of the Clifton Forge Elks Lodge (B.P.O.E.) #1065. Dickie loved fishing, hunting, and his garden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Bill Warren, Cripp Warren, Griffith Warren, Roy Warren, and Monty Ray Warren; and a sister, Ester Warren. He is survived by his wife, Helen Marie Bush Warren; two sons, Richard Allen Warren and wife Pam of Covington, and Homer Madison Warren, Jr. and wife Michelle of Rich Patch; a sister, Margaret Coffey of Selma; seven grandchildren, Homer William and Matthew Arlington Warren (his little fishing buddies), Lisa Warren, R.J. Warren, Loveda Warren, Jessica Harmon and husband Daniel, and Ethan Berry; three great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Richard and Winnie; a number of nieces and nephews; and many close friends, including his fishing and hunting and fishing buddies. A funeral service will be held Monday, November 20, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Mike Warren officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Pallbearers will be R. J. Warren, Clay Hayslett, Jack Persinger, Dickie Conner, Lewis Humphries, Ethan Berry, Jeff Gunter, and Matt Craft. His family will receive friends from on Monday from 12 noon until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Michelle and Homer, Jr., 9311 Rich Patch Road, Covington.
