Jesse Janet Holloway (Broce)
Jessie Janet Broce Holloway, age 90, of 1106 Jackson River Turnpike, Hot Springs, Virginia, died Monday, February 12, 2018 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. She was born October 18, 1927 in Hot Springs and raised in Bath County by the late Claude Patterson Broce and Ruby Evangeline Patteson Broce. Janet finished high school in Poquoson, VA during World War II. After school Janet worked a short time for Noland and Co., in Newport News, VA before going to work as a civilian employee for the U. S. Air Force at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, VA as a Microfilm Tape Librarian for Tactical Air Command for over 25 years until she and her husband moved back to Bath County in 1975. She worked for a short time at The Homestead front desk and in 1977, went to work as computer supervisor for Daniel Construction and VEPCO until 1986. She loved her home, family and friends, making arts and crafts, her beautiful yard and garden. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Poquoson, Virginia and Eden United Methodist Church in Hot Springs. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, William Raymond Holloway, Jr.; a sister, Amy Buettner and brothers-in-law, Bill Buettner and Kenneth F. Holloway; and a sister-in-law, Glenda Shaw. She is survived by a foster daughter, Tina Roberts; a brother, Reid Broce and his wife Katie of Richmond; a sister, Claudia McAllister and her husband Eddie of Hot Springs; a number of loving and caring nieces and nephews; and special relatives, David and Becky George, Patty and John Hazelwood, Sarah Hall, and Bill and Sue George. A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2017 at 2:00 PM in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor with Reverend R. Spencer Broce and Reverend David T. George officiating. Pallbearers will be Todd Borchers, Mike Deaner, Josh Deaner, Jason Hiner, Nick George, Bartlett Ailstock, Joseph Pritt, and Roy Pritt. Friends may gather at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge on Friday afternoon from 12:30 PM until time to proceed to the cemetery, or at the graveside prior to the service.
