In Memory of

Reginald

Kinman

Condolences

Condolence From: Jerry Stone
Condolence: I met Lee, as he was known then, when the Kinman family moved to Northview Drive in Roanoke. He fit right in with the other boys on our street. When the Kinmans moved to Russellville, Arkansas, our family stopped by to see Lee when we were on a road trip to California. By the time Lee, then known as Reggie, returned to Roanoke, I had moved back as well. We saw each other occasionally and I valued him as a friend.

Condolence: I am lucky to have known TWO Reggie Kinmans in my life: cousin Lee, who we remember here, and his dad, my Uncle Reggie. To say that the apple didn't fall far from the tree is an understatement. Both were fine men, understated in their actions but complex in their thoughts. Both were smart as whips and both loved the simple pleasures in life: great friends, great food and great conversations. (And VW buses.) Another thing my cousin got from his dad? The ability to shoot you "the look" that could make you stop talking, start talking or confess to things you didn't even do! I am filled with happy memories of our times together. They do not make them like Lee anymore. Sending much love to my cousins Alexis and Linda — his amazing sisters — who had to put up with TWO of these characters!

Condolence: Reggie and I started teaching at Alleghany H. S. at about the same time. We were both teaching English and our rooms were across the hall from each other. Being new teachers and teaching the same material a friendship sprang up quickly. We share many jokes and meals at various eating establishments in the area. He would often send me jokes over the internet. Somewhere along the way I lost him. Every once in a while I'd hear a little something from him but I lost him. I'm still in the county and had no idea he was here over the past year. I will miss him, his witty ways and his vehicle. Rest in peace, my friend!
