Patricia Denise “Patty” Leary Spangler, age 56, of 217 Alleghany Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Thursday, April 12, 2018 at The Woodlands Health and Rehabilitation Center, Clifton Forge. Patty was born April 27, 1961 in Bath County, Virginia to the late Jackie Olden Leary and Iris Rosalee Jones Leary. She was a store manager for Fastbreak B.P. in Cliftondale Park. She was a member of the Clifton Forge Elks Lodge # 1065 B.P.O.E. She attended Central Advent Christian Church, Lone Star Advent Christian Church, and Kayser Memorial Presbyterian Church, and sang in the Celebration Choir. She enjoyed being pampered by others, but loved spoiling her grandchildren and her dogs. She was a Virginia Tech fan and spent many happy hours riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle with her husband. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin “Buddy” Spangler, and a brother, Michael Lynn Leary. She is survived by a son, Darin Reid Spangler of Troutville; a sister, Kim Call and husband Rick of Millboro; two grandchildren, Mariah Spangler and Braylynn Spangler; nieces and nephews, Emily, Sarah, David, and Connor; several great nieces and a great nephew; an aunt, Thelma Leary Curtis; a number of cousins, including a special cousin, Lisa Hazelwood; and many friends, including special friends, Kathy Dobson, Cindy Gier, Taura Reynolds, Gail and Richard Wallace. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Gene Ayers, Reverend Doug Moore, and Reverend Gentry Hinojosa officiating. Following the service, the body will be cremated. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
