Obituary for
Sidney Hannah
Sidney Allison Hannah, age 87, of 8135 Beechmont Avenue, Apt E-117, Cincinnati, Ohio, died Monday, January 1, 2018. Dr. Hannah was born of April 9, 1930 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, to the late Frank Miller McClung Hannah and Ellen Murray Hannah. He graduated from Clifton Forge High School in 1947 and Virginia Military Institute in 1951. He then served in the United States Army for three years, stationed in the Philippines. He returned to college, receiving his Masters and P.H.D. degrees from the University of Florida. He worked for the American Viscose Company in Roanoke for three years and General Chemical Division in Claymont, DE. He accepted a position with the United States Public Health Service in Cincinnati, then was promoted to Chemist for the Environmental Protection Agency, retiring in 1991, having served thirty years. He enjoyed coming back home to watch Clifton Forge High School and V.M.I. footballs games. He also enjoyed watching his favorite NFL Football team, the Cincinnati Bengals, on television, as well as other sports. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Cincinnati. He is survived by a number of special nieces, nephews, and cousins including cousins W. Pembroke Hall and wife Frieda of Clifton Forge, Ann Wilson and husband Shade of Richmond, and Carolyn Hall Tinsley and husband Rick of Richmond. In keeping with his wishes, his body was cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend W. Pembroke Hall officiating.
