Larry Brown
Larry Gene Brown, age 76, of 505 Roxbury Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Thursday, August 23, 2018 at his residence. He was born August 19, 1942 in Louisiana to the late James and Dorothy Myers Brown. He was a Senior Construction Superintendent for Trammell Crow. He later served as superintendent, otherwise known as “The Big Rooster”, during the building of an iconic landmark structure “The Big Chicken” in Atlanta, Georgia. Larry showed Appaloosa horses, producing a Top Ten World Champion and a National Champion. He bred a multi-champion stallion who was chosen to be a Breyer Model. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Brown. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Raine Howard Brown of Clifton Forge; two daughters, Traci Strange and husband Scott of Louisiana, and Terilynn Rankin and husband Randy of Mississippi; a son, Mark Brown and wife Kathy of Louisiana; a step daughter, Amber King of Covington; a sister, Carole Cox and husband Mitchell of Mississippi; a brother, Charles Brown of Kentucky; six granddaughters and a grandson; a great grandchild due in December; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Chet Howard. In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. A private memorial service will be held. There will be a time of fellowship and visitation with the family at a later date.
