Obituary for Ernest Barksdale Young

Ernest Barksdale Young, age 90, of 1600 Jefferson Street, Clifton Forge, VA died Friday, October 19, 2001 at the Alleghany Regional Hospital, Low Moor.
Mr. Young was born on October 29, 1910 at Swoope, VA a son of the late Charles Preston Young and Martha Barksdale Young.
He was a retired owner/operator of Young’s Esso Service Station in Clifton Forge and was a former Conductor for the C & O Railway Company. He was a member of the Clifton Forge Baptist Church and the Men’s Bible Class, a charter member and past Captain of the Clifton Forge Rescue Squad, a member of the Clifton Forge Masonic Lodge # 1066, Clifton Forge Shrine Club, the Kazim Temple, Roanoke and was a life member of the Clifton Forge Elks Lodge # 1065.
He is survived by a step granddaughter, Anne V. North of La Jolla, CA; a step grandson, John R. Tregenza of Piedmont, CA; five grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Dollman Young in 1987; a step daughter, Mary Constance Tregenza; a brother, Ralph Preston Young.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, October 26, 2001 from the Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge with Rev. J. Glenn Linthicum officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by the Clifton Forge Masonic Lodge # 1066.
The family suggest memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Clifton Forge Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 419, Clifton Forge, VA 24422 or a charity of your choice.
