Obituary for Gregory Alan Young

Gregory Alan “Greg” Young, age 43, of 18 Botany Drive, Eagle Rock, Virginia died Friday, February 2, 2007 at his residence. Greg was born April 9, 1963 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, a son of Ralph L. Young, Jr. and Colleen Stull Young of Fairview Heights, Clifton Forge. He was a member of Rich Patch Union Church, and a life member of the National Rifle Association. Greg will be remembered as an avid sports fan who closely followed NASCAR, UVA, and the New York Yankees. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ernest and Mildred Stull and his paternal grandparents, Ralph and Esther Young. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Jennifer Martin and husband Trent of Clifton Forge, a nephew and niece, Justin Smith and Becca Martin of Clifton Forge, special friends, Teresa Gibson of Clifton Forge and Doug Gibson of Martinsville, and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with the Reverend Ray Sandifer and Mr. Ernest A. Huntington officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be David Buchanan, Muttsy Tingler, Mikie Green, Dennis Simmons, Jeff Fairburn, Tony Kimberlin, and Richard Colvin. Honorary pallbearers will be cousins and other close friends. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM at the funeral home and other times at the residence of Ralph and Colleen Young, Fairview Heights, Clifton Forge or Jennifer Martin, 600 McCormick Blvd, Clifton Forge. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alleghany Humane Society, 304 Karnes Road, Low Moor, VA 24457 in Greg’s name.
