Obituary for Rodney Wayne Unroe

Rodney Wayne Unroe, age 56, of 1120 Commercial Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at LewisGale Hospital - Alleghany in Low Moor, Virginia. He was born August 20, 1956 in Clifton Forge to Catherine Goodwin Unroe and the late Toby Baker Unroe. He was a 1974 graduate of Clifton Forge High School and has worked for CSX Transportation for 35 years with the Maintenance of Way Department. He was a member of the Maintenance of Way Union and was a safety coordinator for CSX Transportation. He is survived by his wife, Roxane Terry Unroe of Clifton Forge; his mother, Catherine Unroe of Clifton Forge; three daughters, Angela O'Neill and husband Michael of Monroe County, WV, Crystal Downey and husband Zeke of Eagle Rock, and Santana Unroe of Clifton Forge; two sisters, Joanne Unroe Rowland and husband Wendell of Clifton Forge, and Cathy Unroe Cook of Selma; three brothers, Barry Unroe and wife Carol of Clifton Forge, Timmy Unroe and friend Debbie Noel, and Morgan Luck of North Carolina; a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; five grandchildren, Luke O'Neill, Mariah O'Neill, Miranda O'Neill, Zeke Downey III, and Kendall Downey; a number of nieces and nephews; his friends and coworkers at CSX Transportation; and special friends, Jimmy and Buddy Lacks, Pastor Gordon Hammond, and Reverend Dennis Nicely. A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Gordon Hammond and Reverend Dennis Nicely officiating. Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be James Thomas, Frank Tyree, Ricky Pendleton, Grady Haynes, David Wilson, Roger Wilson, Tony Scialoia, George Broughman, Zeke Downey, Danny Coffman and Pat Simmons. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 1120 Commercial Ave, Clifton Forge or at the home of Wendell and Joanne Rowland, 804 Jefferson Ave, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
