Obituary for Franklin Delano "Dan" Boone

Franklin Delano “Dan” Boone, age 84, of 853 McDaniel Drive, Eagle Rock, Virginia went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, August 05, 2017 at his residence. He was born May 29, 1933 in West Virginia to the late Charles Boone and Annie Witt Boone. He was a retired Pastor who worked in many different locations, including Ohio and Florida. He had many different jobs throughout his life which included, working in New York and Kentucky as a foreman for the steel mill, a police officer and cab driver in Niagara Falls, and a coal miner. He also worked on building the dam in the Tennessee Valley. He received his degree in ministry from Clear Creek Baptist School. He had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed gardening and raising his chickens.
He loved the Lord deeply and read his Bible often. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Boone who passed in 1998; two sisters, Opal and Ruth; an infant sister, Vivian Pauline; and four brothers, Everett, Olaf, Charles, and Dean. Dan is survived by his wife of 17 years, Kathryn Johnson Boone; a daughter, Nita Johnson and husband Chester; three sons, Timothy Boone and wife Linda, Randy Boone, Derick Boone and wife Darla; a step son, Todd Crance and wife Winter; a sister, Audrey Hankins; five sisters in law, Mary Beth Nair and husband Gary, Martha Machado, Betty Boone, Audria Boone, and Boots Boone; two brothers, Ed Boone, James Boone and wife Gloria Ann; eight grandchildren, Jeremiah Johnson and wife Teressa, Samantha Johnson, Jessee Boone and wife Becky, Nikki Edwards, Scotty Boone, Kendra Daniels and husband Billy, Crystal Henderson and husband Lance, Tyler Boone and wife Brandi; two step grandchildren, Mason and Maddox Crance; eight great grandchildren; his mother in law, Vinita Hicks and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two special companions, Cookie and Candy and his family at Iron Gate Baptist Church. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 07, 2017 from 6:00-8:00pm at Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge, Virginia. A graveside funeral service will be held in Lily Cemetery, in Hardee County, Florida. Ponger-Kay-Grady Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
