Obituary for Lucille Jones (Brewer)

Lucille Brewer Jones, age 91, of 520 Market Ave, Iron Gate, Virginia died Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at her residence. She was born June 23, 1926 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Joseph Brewer and Murriel Burner Brewer. She was a homemaker throughout her life and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Iron Gate for 27 years. She volunteered at LOA for several years and enjoyed sewing, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Butch “Jimmie” Jones, Jr.; a brother; and a sister, Elizabeth Pence. She is survived by three daughters, Pam Jones Spry, Haily Jones, and Mary Jones Keyser; five sons, Charles D. Simms, Billy M. Simms, Roy E. Simms and wife Kim, Carl Mick Jones and wife Cindy, and Phillip D. Jones; two sisters, Margaret Simms, and Denna Faye Skappa and husband Andy; two brothers, John Lester Brewer and Clyde Brewer and wife Taye; 28 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Church of God of Prophecy in Iron Gate with the Reverend Edith Snedegar officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. The family will receive friends on Friday night from 6:00-8:00PM at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, PO Box 637, Clifton Forge, Virginia 24422 and the Church of God of Prophecy, PO Box 43, Iron Gate Va. 24448.
