Peggy Grimes Paxton, age 84, of 4860 Murray Road, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, died Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. She was born March 19, 1933 in Rainelle, West Virginia to the late Ernest Grimes, Sr. and Wanita Grimes Crizer. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant for the former Chesapeake and Ohio Hospital and Bowman Gray Medical School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas B. Paxton; her step father, Raymond Crizer; a brother, Dudley Grimes; and a sister, Thelka Malashevich. She is survived by two sons, Ryland Paxton and wife Donna of Richmond, and James Thomas and wife Brenda of Clifton Forge; a brother, Ernie Grimes of Wyoming; a half-sister, Jolanda Pendleton of Clifton Forge; a half-brother, R. L. “Butch” Crizer of Covington; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and many dear friends which assisted her during the years. In keeping with her wishes, her body was cremated. A memorial service will be held next Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend W. Pembroke Hall officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service at Nicely Funeral Home.
