Obituary for Virginia Broughman

Virginia Louise Broughman, 92, of 800 W. Ridgeway Street, Clifton Forge died Sunday, April 22, 2018 at her home. She was born in Iron Gate on November 24, 1925, a daughter of the late Daniel and Martha Campbell. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, and a retired employee of the Clifton Forge Steam Laundry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Edward Broughman in June of 1969; two daughters, Rosie Broughman and Nellie Broughman; four sisters, Via Kelly, Vernie Dunn, Mary Campbell, and Sara Jane Campbell; and four brothers, Robert Campbell, Jim Campbell, Lewis Campbell, and Philip Campbell. She is survived by a daughter, Betty Broughman Mathieu and her husband John of Greenville, RI; three sons, Albert Broughman and fiancée Barbara Richardson of Clifton Forge, Johnny Broughman and his wife Gail of Glen Wilton, and Bobby Broughman of Covington; a sister, Helen Niday of Troutville; a brother, Lawrence Campbell of Roanoke; twenty-three grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; special friends, Nancy and Archie Wells of Clifton Forge and Lisa Dudley; and the nurses and staff of Mountain Regional Hospice. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Pastor John Godfrey officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Eagle Rock. Pallbearers will be Billy Taylor, Andrew McCray, Jamie Broughman, William Deisher, Montie Curtis, Billy Campbell, Darryl Reynolds, and William Richardson.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in her memory to Immanuel Baptist Church, 2819 Douthat Road, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
