Obituary for Faye McCoy (Matheny)

Faye McCoy (Matheny)
Faye Matheny McCoy, age 77, of 3468 Cowpasture River Highway, Millboro, Virginia died Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Faye was born in Bath County, Virginia on September 14, 1940, a daughter of the late Olen and Mable Watts Matheny Hayslett. She was a retired Support Coordinator for the Alleghany Highlands Community Services Board and loved to help with the Special Olympics events. Faye worked hard to take care of people with intellectual disabilities. She was a member of the Horeb Baptist Church, an avid University of Virginia sports fan, and was an active member of the Women of the Moose of Clifton Forge Moose Lodge # 1683. Most of all, she loved her husband of 58 years. They were high school sweethearts. Her two grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren were her life and she loved to venture to the beach with her family. She is survived by her husband Frank L. McCoy of Millboro; a daughter, Penny McCoy Campbell and husband Darrell of Millboro; two sons, David Wesley McCoy of Clifton Forge and Richard Thomas “Ricky” McCoy of Millboro; a sister, Rhonda Jones of Lexington; two brothers, Kenneth W. Matheny of Covington and Timmy Hayslett of Clifton Forge; two grandchildren, Michael J. Campbell and wife Kerri and Sarah Marshall and husband T.J.; 5 great grandchildren, Kennedy, Harper, and Ellie Campbell, and Evan and Gracie Marshall; a special friend, Betty Harlow; and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Pastor Mike Rollins and Rev. Steven Markum officiating. Interment will follow in the Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery, Millboro. Active pallbearers will be Stuart McCoy, Cecil McCoy, Jr., Wesley Matheny, Allen Angle, Timmy Puffenbarger, Brian Jefferies, Randy Durham, and Billy Shepherd. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial tributes in Faye’s name take the form of contributions to Alleghany Highlands Special Olympics, Area 18, P.O. Box 122, Covington, VA 24426.
