Obituary for Doris Nicely

Doris Mae Painter Long Nicely, age 83, of 511 Wintergreen Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at her residence. She was born April 29, 1935 in Clifton Forge to the late Ivan Painter and Elsie Clark Painter Goodwin. She was a molder for Acadia in Iron Gate. She was a member of Central Advent Christian Church and the Sharon Ruritan Club, where she served as Past President and Secretary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Henry Long, Sr.; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol Ann and Eugene Blaker, and a nephew, Russell Smithers, Jr. She is survived by her husband, David Nicely of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Pamela Long Lipes of Buena Vista; two sons, William Henry Long, Jr. of Fincastle and Christopher Lee Long of Clifton Forge; a sister, Charlotte Rose and husband Melvin of Clifton Forge; a brother, Daniel Warren Goodwin of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Stephen Edward Lipes, William Travis Lipes, Joseph Adam Lipes, Andrew William Long, and Meagan Elizabeth Long; five great grandchildren, Skyler Lipes, Kameron Lipes, Killian Lipes, Novah Long, and Isaiah Wayne Gordon; and a number of nieces and nephews. In keeping with her family’s wishes, her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 2:00 PM in Central Advent Christian Church, Clifton Forge with Reverend Gene Ayers officiating. The family will visit with friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. Nicely Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
