Condolence: Saddened to hear of Joann’s death. We taught together at Milpitas Unified and many of her middle school students transitioned into my high school classroom. Joann made a difference in the lives of many students. She will be missed. My deepest condolences to her family for the tremendous loss they must feel.

Condolence: Dearest Basnight Loved Ones,
You don’t know me but I was blessed to know JoAnn. I am a Special Needs Advocate in Santa Clara County, CA. JoAnn became a dear friend and a true advocate for each and every student that went through her classroom. She was amazing! Although, I will miss her loving and welcoming presence, I celebrate that she made such a difference in so many lives and provided hope to so many families! She was so determined to have each and every student reach their potential and made every effort to support and encourage them. She was an angel amongst us I and honored she was my friend.

Condolence:
My name is Emma and I was a student in Ms. Basnight's class for 7th and 8th grade. She gave me the nickname "Emma Lou" which made me feel very special. I loved her dearly as a teacher. She made a game plan for each student to help us educationally and behaviorally so that we would succeed. No matter how big anyone's challenges were she never game up on us. She fought for us and helped us be champions each in our own individual way. My favorite book that Ms. Basnight introduced us to was called The Acorn People, by Ron Jones. It is the true story of a man who discovered the amazing abilities of people with severe disabilities at a summer camp. I think this book represents what Ms. Basnight stood for and I recommend it. Ms. Basnight also had a super fun personality and a phenomenal southern accent. She will always have a very special place in my heart. My deepest condolences to Megan and the rest of Ms. Basnight's family. Megan, you had the best Mom in the world and we will all miss her.

Condolence: I am so sorry for your loss.
JoAnn and I worked together at Rancho Middle School in California for many years. She reached out to me when she heard that she and my wife had similar medical issues. She was a good friend and we supported each other over the course of the past couple of years.
JoAnn was also a caring and dedicated teacher at Rancho and was loved by all the staff. She had a great sense of humor and we enjoyed sharing humorous stories of our students together. I had many of JoAnn's Special Education students in my class, and she showed amazing patience and understanding with them. She will be missed at Rancho, and I will miss my friend.
My sympathies to the family.

Condolence: My heart and prayers go out to the family.
JoAnn and I went to college together at Norfolk State Univeristy. She was one of my best friends and even a bridesmaid in my wedding.
We lost contact over the years,0 of which I regret. We both apparently named our daughters “Megan” . Just know she was a great friend and we had lots of laughs during our college years.
May she “Rest In Peace”!
