Jean Bayne Nicely, age 88, formerly of Wesgate, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Catawba State Hospital. She was born February 21, 1930 in Clifton Forge to the late Rector Russell Bayne and Garnett Fox Bayne. She was a retired Clerk for Walmart and Leggett’s Store in Clifton Forge for 17 years. She was also member of Clifton Forge Baptist Church. Jean loved to garden, was a loving mother and grandmother, was a caring person and loved talking to friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Carleton Stull Nicely and two brothers, Aubrey Bayne and Elwood Bayne. She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Brooks of Clifton Forge and Teresa Nicely (Darrell Lugar) of Covington; a sister in law, Shelbia Jean Bayne of Clifton Forge; two grandchildren Lindsay Brooks (Tim King) of Eagle Rock and Jarred Brooks and wife Jennifer of Three Forks, Montana; a great grandson, Jackson Brooks, and a number of nieces and nephews including Gregory Bayne of Margate, England. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Bill Hartsfield officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family attending the service. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3959 Electric Road, Suite 357, Roanoke, Virginia 24018.
