Obituary for Boyd Muterspaugh

Boyd William Muterspaugh, age 88, of 4213 Nicelytown Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany, Low Moor.
He was born April 18, 1930 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late William Ollie and Junia Virginia Clark Muterspaugh. He served in the United States Air Force and retired as an electrician for CSX Transportation after thirty-two years. He was a member of Iron Gate Baptist Church, and honorary member and former Fire Chief of the Sharon Volunteer Fire Department, and also a former auctioneer with the Nicely Auction Company. Boyd loved his family and enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and camping.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Persinger Muterspaugh in 2016, and a sister, Hattie Muterspaugh Knick.
He is survived by two daughters, Anne Crush and husband Ray of Clifton Forge, and Jeannie Wade and husband L. A. of Roanoke; three sons, Dale Muterspaugh and wife Brenda of Clifton Forge, Dean Muterspaugh and wife Kathy of Salem, and Danny Muterspaugh and wife Stephanie of Henrico; fifteen grandchildren, Zac Crush, Matt Crush and wife Elizabeth, Eli Crush, Erin Clark and husband Chris, Robin Powell and husband Ryan, Mason Muterspaugh, Grant Muterspaugh, Bryan Ruff, Faith Muterspaugh, Roger Muterspaugh, Richard Muterspaugh and wife Erin, Ryan Muterspaugh and wife Emily, Wyatt Simmons, Ben Simmons, and Travis McDaniel and wife Megan; thirteen great grandchildren; and two nieces, Amber Nelson and Lana Harlow.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend W. Pembroke Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Church, Clifton Forge. Boyd’s grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers and active pallbearers will be members of the Sharon Volunteer Fire Department. The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 1:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
