Shirley May Peery Dudley, age 79, of The Woodlands Health and Rehab Center, Clifton Forge, and formerly of Christiansburg, died Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany.
She was born May 5, 1939 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Woodrow Wilson Peery and Mamie Tolley Peery. She was a retired molder for Northrop Grumman and previously worked at Kostel’s Restaurant, The Old Forge Restaurant, and Farrar’s Drug Store. Shirley was a member of the Clifton Forge Baptist Church, the Blacksburg Moose Lodge and enjoyed dancing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a step mother, Ruby Newcomb Peery; three brothers, Kenneth W. Peery, Ralph M. Peery and S. Richard Peery.
She is survived by a sister, Arlene Woodson of West River, Maryland; a brother, Bernard Wade Newcomb of West Hills, California; a lifelong friend, Madeline Nicely of Iron Gate; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Edith Snedegar officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family attending the service. The family will receive friends on Thursday morning from 11:00 AM until time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
