Obituary for Virginia "Jenny" Miller

Virginia “Jenny” Carter Miller, age 92, of 1119 Staunton Street, Selma, Virginia died Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem.
Jenny was born January 26, 1927 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Lorenzo Maynard Carter and Mary Watts Anderson Carter. She was a 1945 graduate of Central High School, a 1949 graduate of Bridgewater College, and a graduate of the Chesapeake and Ohio School of Nursing where she worked for many years as a registered nurse, retiring as a head nurse. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and loved playing basketball, watching basketball, reading, working puzzles, and playing bridge.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Frank Harmon “Harmie” Miller, Sr. and five brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Tucker and husband Tommy of Clifton Forge; two sons, Frank Harmon Miller, Jr. and wife Carrollynn of Troutville, and David Lee Miller and wife Laura of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Seth Lockhart, Emily Miller, Hannah Miller, Adam Miller, Rachael Miller, Sarah Miller, and Carter Miller; a great granddaughter, Eliana Miller; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thank you to her caregivers.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 at 2:00 PM in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor with Reverend Robert McRae and Reverend Jonathon Greer officiating. Interment will immediately follow. The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon at Nicely Funeral Home from 12:30 PM until the time to proceed to Alleghany Memorial Park.
