Obituary for Shirley Tucker (Walsh)

Shirley Walsh Tucker, age 94, of 1333 Hamilton Ave. Clifton Forge, Virginia left her earthly home Friday, July 5, 2019 at her residence.

She was born November 3, 1924 in Scottsville, Virginia to the late Cary W. and Sally Wheeler Walsh. She was a graduate of The C & O Hospital School of Nursing and served in the Army Nurse Corp of Cadets and was a retired Registered Nurse with over 40 years of service. She worked at the C & O Hospital, and Alleghany Regional Hospital. Shirley volunteered at the Clifton Forge Food Pantry, and at Mountain Regional Hospice. She was a member of Clifton Forge Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting and reading.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James N. “Jack” Tucker; a son, Todd Tucker; and an infant brother, Randolph Walsh.

She is survived by three daughters, Beverly T. MacLeod of Harrisonburg, Ellen T. Nicely (Terry) of Clifton Forge, Sallie Jo Tucker (Jeff Barnes) of Shipman, Virginia; a brother, Cary S. “Chub” Walsh of Scottsville, Virginia; a brother in law, Robert “Bob” Tucker of Richmond; three grandchildren, Maria Lebovich (Andy) of Aurora, Colorado, Meghan Mongold (Jonathan) of Covington, Cora Nicely (Brandon Morris) of Clifton Forge; two step grandchildren, Billy MacLeod (Allison) of Linville, Virginia, Lindsey Birt (Kevin) of Bridgewater; three great grandchildren, Olivia Nicely, Emily Mongold, Chase Mongold; four step great grandchildren, Abigail MacLeod, Andrew MacLeod, Tatum Birt, Riley Birt; special friend, Betty Snead; caregivers, Peggy Brown, Gabi Hayslett, Mary Harper, Barbara Black; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Revered Dr. Tom Harvey officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
