Mollie Louisa “Louise” VanDevender Vest, age 80 formerly of Linden, Virginia died Monday, December 2, 2019 at Accordius Health at Clemmons in Clemmons, North Carolina.

She was born July 4, 1939 in Alleghany County to the late Ray and Hazel Simmons VanDevender. She was a graduate of Covington High School, Class of 1957 and the Fountain manager at Rite-Aid, formerly Drug Fair in Fairfax, Va. She loved working in her yard with all types of flowers and collecting salt and pepper shakers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, whom she was married to for 55 years, James Edward “Jimmy” Vest; two brothers, Robert “Bob” VanDevender and Gaines “Jack” VanDevender.

She is survived by a brother, Don VanDevender of Winston-Salem, NC; a sister in law, Janice Bostic VanDevender of Pikeville, NC; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 2:00PM in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington, Virginia with Reverend Lynn Wright officiating. Interment will immediately follow. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30PM until 1:30PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, prior to the graveside service.
