Obituary for Betty Thompson

Betty Celestine Leftwich Thompson, age 94, of 43 Verge Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Monday, January 13, 2020 at The Brian Center Health and Rehab, Low Moor.
Betty was born December 4, 1925 in Lick Run, Botetourt County, Virginia to the late John and Estille Anderson Leftwich. She was a housekeeper and homemaker throughout her life, and a member of First Baptist Church, Clifton Forge.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Abraham Thompson, Jr.; a son, Abraham Thompson III; two sisters-in-law, Rebecca Harris and Elmira Lewis; a niece Blondzetta Tyler; and a nephew Samuel Thompson,.
She is survived by a daughter, Vernell Braxton; a daughter-in-law, Rev. Rosetta Stewart; grandchildren, Keniti Pinkett and husband Warren, Brady Thompson and wife Jean, and Danowlin Stewart and wife Alysha; great-grandchildren, Brady Thompson, Jr., Precious Thompson, Kaiyla Thompson, Kenetia Pinkett, Christian Thompson, Warren Pinkett, Jr., Danowlin Khamal Amier Stewart, D’Khari Jéhon Stewart, Daylen Reece Stewart, Dallas Thompson, and Davey Valentino Stewart, Sydney, and Seth; nieces and nephews, George Thompson and wife Ethel, John Thompson, Jr., Susanne Lewis, Matthew Thompson, Emily Essex and spouse Rudolph, Beatrice Smith and husband Kent, Charleen Dobson and husband Robert, Shirley Kelly and husband Robert, Deloris Lewis, Irene Murell and husband Robert, Shelia Thomas, Nannie West, Alfred Tyler, Stella Brown, Michael Lewis, James Lewis and wife Monica, Patricia Williams, and Larry Lewis; and special friends, Bette Carroll, Patricia Davis-Ross, Catherine Godfrey, Gregory Key, Jamie Johnson, Chiqueena Thompson, Gretel Anderson, and Paul Briggs. Betty also leaves a host of additional nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends to cherish her memory.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 11:00 AM in First Baptist Church, Clifton Forge with Reverend Roslyn Thomas and Reverend Rosetta Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Red Hill Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Active Pallbearers will be William Bell, Rodney Brown, Gilbert Davis, Thomas Lee “T.L.” Dickerson, Cornelius Ray, and Leonard Tinsely. Honorary Pallbearers are Danowlin Stewart and Gregory Key. Flower bearers will be Delores Burgess, Catherine Godfrey, Etrula Moore, Nannie West, Kathy Williams, and Lisa Curtis. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
