Obituary for James "Jimmy" Holt
James Ernest “Jimmy” Holt, age 82, of 2807 Selma-Low Moor Road, Low Moor, Virginia died Sunday, April 26, 2020 at his residence.
He was born May 2, 1937 in Low Moor to the late Fred Emerson Holt, Sr. and Pauline Downey Holt. He was a 1956 graduate of Central High School and served in the Virginia National Guard. He was a produce Manager for Kroger for 42 years. He was a member of Low Moor Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder, Clerk of Session, and Sunday School Superintendent.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Susie Holt and great nephew, Matthew Darnell.
He is survived by a sister, Carolyn King and husband David of Eagle Rock; a brother, Fred Holt of Selma; an uncle, William G. Holt and wife Diana of Alamobodo, NM; a number of nieces and nephews; and his Low Moor Presbyterian Church family.
Due to the current health conditions, a private graveside funeral service will be held in Sunrise Cemetery, Low Moor with Reverend Lisa Marshall officiating. A public memorial service will be held at a later date. Friends may call during business hours at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Low Moor Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 204 Old Church Road, Low Moor, VA 24457.
