James Paul Martin, age 76, of Douthat State Park Road, Millboro, Virginia passed away Friday, July 17, 2020 at his home with his loving wife by his side.
He was born May 16, 1944 in Shelby, Ohio to the late Paul William and Ann Catherine Locke Martin. He grew up on a farm in Plymouth, OH and was a tool and die maker by trade. He worked for Midwest Industries in Willard, OH, Whirlpool Corporation in Clyde, OH, SCS Inc in Bellevue, OH and retired from Ford Motor Company in Sandusky, OH as a tool maker in 2006. He enjoyed hunting, his dogs, NASCAR, his Harley and most of all, his family and friends.
He always said, “I wasn’t born here, but I got here as quick as I could”. He loved the mountains of Virginia, where he could go hunting and watch the wildlife outside of his windows.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his middle son, David James Martin in January 2020; his brother, L. Raymond Windecker; and brother in law, Michael E. Dalton.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Brenda S. Dalton Martin of Millboro; two sons, Todd Alan Martin and wife Martika of Roanoke, TX, and Paul William Martin of Reynoldsburg, OH; a daughter in law, Rachel Martin of Asheboro, NC; former daughter in law, Nahtanha Martin of Mansfield, OH; six grandchildren, Addison Catherine Martin of Knoxville, TN, Malachi James Paul Martin, McKinley Ann Martin, Morgan Mathew Benjamin Martin all of Mansfield, OH, Alexia Susanne Martin, Sophia Anne Martin of Roanoke, TX; sisters and brothers in law, Patricia Windecker of Livonia, MI, Sandra L. and Fred Capelle, Clifford W. Dalton all of New London, OH, James P. Dalton of London, KY; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 from 3:00PM until 6:00PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. With this pandemic, we ask that you wear a mask and follow the mandated rules.
Jim always ended each conversation he had with you, “Stay well, be safe”
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association, The American Cancer Society, or to the donor’s favorite charity.
