Obituary for Carleigh Faith Sammons

Carleigh Faith Sammons, age 8, of 100 Nicholas Drive, Lot F-2, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Friday, August 28, 2020 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke.

Carleigh was born January 5, 2012 in Low Moor, Virginia to Steven James Sammons and the late Melanie Grace Baker Sammons. She was a free spirited little girl who loved being a student at Sharon Elementary School, as well as hunting, fishing and cooking.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by an aunt, Emma Cummings.

She is survived by her father, Steven James Sammons and wife Amanda; two sisters, Shayna Naomi Grace Sammons, and Mackenzie Renee Richardson; four brothers, Steven Eugene Sammons, Charles Jeffery “Chuck” Sammons, Samuel Ray Bayne, and Bailey Edward James all of Clifton Forge; maternal grandmother, Sandy Baker of Selma; maternal grandfather, Melvin Baker of North Carolina; paternal grandmother, Sandy Sammons and husband Nathan of Clifton Forge; paternal grandfather, Joseph Sammons and wife Tiffany of Clifton Forge; aunts and uncles, Breann Nicole Davenport, Shae Destiney Smith, Kyla Crosier, Christopher Skidmore, Benny Baker, Lynn Sammons and husband Giggy, Natasha Tucker and husband Kodi, Richard Sammons, Joe Sammons, Jr., Michael Caldwell, and Crystal Sammons, Karaline Sammons; a niece, Alivia Broughman; a number of cousins; and a special friend, Sophia Allen.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Doug Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be Joe Sammons, Sr., Steven Sammons, Billy Taylor and Jamie Taylor. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home. In keeping with the State of Virginia's COVID-19 recommendations, masks will be required for all in attendance.
