Obituary for Robert Adams
Robert Hawthorne Adams, Jr., age 72, of 3334 Glade Creek Blvd., Roanoke, Virginia died Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at his residence.
Robert was born January 22, 1948 in Roanoke to the late Robert Hawthorne Adams, Sr. and Ruth Nowlin Adams. He was a quarry operator for Roanoke Cement (Titan America) and retired after thirty-six years. He was also well known for his skills in carpet installation in many homes and businesses in the area. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army and was a member of First Baptist Church in Iron Gate, where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the American Legion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Maurice Adams; two sisters, Teresa Adams and Barbara Ryan; and a niece Brittney Wilson.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Kay Pierce Adams of Roanoke; four children, Rob Adams, Sonia Adams, Crystal Terry, and Sean Adams and wife Brittany; siblings, Maria Adams of Waynesboro, Daisy Brown and husband Morgan of Lyndhurst, Stephanie Adams and husband Torrance of Detroit, MI, Jacqueline “Tracy” Sims of Waynesboro, Floyd Adams of Poconos, PA, and Tony Adams and Chris Adams of Stroudsburg, PA; twelve grandchildren, Terrill, Aaron, Madison, Dontè, Dèsia, Sanaia, Lukas, Landon, Zari, Shayla, Abby, and Londyn; two great grandchildren; an aunt and uncle, Ed and Jean Norwood of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends including his special cousin, Mike Waldron and his Golden Corral breakfast crew, and his devoted sister- and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Leonard Jones, Jr. of Covington.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Harold G. Preston officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be William Allen III, Morgan Brown, Chris Adams, Floyd Adams, Tony Adams, and Matt Fischer. Flower bearers will be Velma Jefferies, Zari Adams, Sanaia Terry, and Abby Thompson. The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home. In accordance with COVID 19 pandemic guidelines, the family requests that all in attendance at the services please wear a mask and observe social distancing measures.
