Obituary for Edna "ReRe" Bryant

Edna Marie “ReRe” Cantrell Bryant, age 60, of 915 White Rock Gap Road, Covington, Virginia died Friday, December 18, 2020 at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital – Richmond. Rere was born October 20, 1960 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late James Alfred Cantrell and Juanita Kern Cantrell. She was a school teacher for Alleghany Highlands Public School System for 35 years, a member of the Alleghany Highlands Education Association and a member of the Clifton Forge Alumni Association. She graduated from Clifton Forge High School and attended Radford University receiving her Master’s degree. Teaching was her passion and she loved the students and staff at MVES and Central. She loved her Beanie Babies, Redskins memorabilia, Disney, traveling with her family, her friends and especially her grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to watch her grandchildren play ball or dance. Rere also really enjoyed Christmas time and getting gifts for family and loved ones throughout the year. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Cantrell; and two step-daughters, Melissa Bryant and Elizabeth Bryant. She is survived by her husband, Donnie Bryant; two sons, Derek Cantrell and wife Johnell, Logan Bryant and fiancée Heather Snead of Covington; a brother Jeff Cantrell and wife Mary of Clifton Forge; two grandchildren, Laken and Jace Cantrell; and a number of nieces and nephews. In keeping with her family’s wishes, her body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at Fincastle Baptist Church, Covington on Sunday at 6 pm. For those unable to attend we will live stream the service through Johnell Cantrell’s facebook. Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being set up through Highlands Community Bank to support the students and teachers at Mountain View Elementary School.
