He loved gardening, woodworking, and was an avid University of Virginia sports fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ila Chestnut Claytor; four sisters, Elsie Doyle, Corrinne Thomas, Edna Harris, and Naomi Sprouse; and two brothers, Linwood Claytor and Denver Claytor.
He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Edwards and husband Douglas of Fredericksburg and Carol R. Claytor of Clifton Forge; a son, Douglas O. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Marion Sortore and Mr. James David Williams officiating. Services will conclude at Nicely Funeral Home. Entombment will take place in the Mausoleum of Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor at a later time.
