Obituary for Ethel Dudley
Ethel Hilda Shanks Dudley, age 81 of 1108 Chatham Road, Eagle Rock, Virginia, died Thursday, January 21, 2021 at her residence.
She was born April 2, 1939 in Low Moor, Virginia to the late Lewis Lambert Shanks and Olga Leota Persinger Shanks. She was a laborer for H. O. Canfield, and a foster mother to many wonderful children throughout her life.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Natasha Nicole Dudley; two brothers, Richard Lewis Shanks and Donald Persinger; and a sister, Jenny Wright.
She is survived by her husband, James Morris Dudley, Jr. of Eagle Rock; three daughters, Debra Kay Humphries Dudley and husband Milton, Joybeth Alison Dudley, and Sierra Nicole Dudley and husband C.J. Aldridge, all of Eagle Rock; three sons, James Morris Dudley III and wife Sissy of Eagle Rock, Kenneth Lewis Humphries and Judi of Rich Patch, and Gregory Shawn Dudley of Eagle Rock; a sister, Polly Thompson of Virginia Beach; 12 grandchildren, Jason Owen Dudley and wife Constance, Jamie Lee Dudley and wife Heather, Hunter Aldridge, Delvin Aldridge, Lewis Humphries and wife Stephanie, Chad Humphries and wife Diddles, Megan Humphries, Zachary Humphries, Rachel Humphries, Graham Dudley, Amanda Dudley, and Katherine Dudley; and numerous great and great great grandkids, nieces, and nephews.
A private funeral will be held in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Ray Sandifer officiating. Interment will be held in Bethel Cemetery, Eagle Rock.
