Obituary for Marilyn "Bo" Bliss
Marilyn Mae “Bo” Bliss, age 75, of 602 Market Avenue, Iron Gate, Virginia died Monday, June 7, 2021 at her residence.
Marilyn was born March 15, 1946 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Harry Nelson and Hallie Virginia Unroe Bliss. She was a customer service representative for Lumos Networks and following her retirement, continued to work for Nicely Funeral Home. She was a lifelong member of Kayser Memorial Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder and treasurer. She had a soft spot for animals and loved people.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Nelson “Pee Wee” Bliss Custer, and her niece, Tara Bliss Hatley.
She is survived by her sister, Carolyn Hatley and two aunts, Rita Unroe and Nancy Unroe, all of Iron Gate; a nephew, Edward Hatley and wife Dee; two great nephews, Calvin Hatley and Zane Hatley; a great niece, Hallie Bliss Barnes; a number of cousins; her Kayser Memorial Presbyterian Church family; and a host of friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Allison Unroe and Mr. Chris Fisher officiating. A private interment will be made in Bethel United Methodist Cemetery, Eagle Rock. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Kayser Memorial Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 314, Iron Gate, VA 24448.
