Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Elmore
Mary Elizabeth Humphries Elmore, age 80, of 9802 Rich Patch Road, Covington, Virginia died Saturday, May 21, 2022 at her residence.
She was born January 9, 1942 in Covington, Virginia to the late Charles Edward Humphries and Shara Elizabeth Payton Humphries. She was a homemaker throughout her life and a member of Light House Apostolic Church. She enjoyed cooking for the family and loved working crossword puzzles.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Monroe Elmore, Sr.; a daughter, Rebecca Sue Elmore; and two sons, Robert Elmore, Jr. and Joe Elmore.
She is survived by four daughters, Connie Gunter and husband, Lee of Covington, Mary Ellen Elmore and significant other, Nick Simpkins of Longdale, Kathy Lynn Johnson and husband, Melvin of Moneta, Melissa Jean Broughman and husband, Bobby of Low Moor; a son, Wesley Edward Elmore and wife, Kristin of Low Moor; a sister, Joyce Ann Bailey and husband, Jerry of Culpepper; four brothers, Thomas Boyer of Covington, Jerry Humphries of Pennsylvania, Dean Humphries and Robbie Boyer, both of Culpepper; thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Michael Fisher officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Cemetery, Low Moor. Pallbearers will be: Austin Clark, Jason Wolfe, Billy Broughman, Charlie Fisher, Tommy Tingler, and Zach Sheppard. Alternate pallbearers will be Charles Elmore and Nick Simpkins. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until time of service on Wednesday.
