Obituary for James "Jimmy" Simpson

James Courtney “Jimmy” Simpson, Jr., age 58, of 301 White Rock Gap Road, Covington, Virginia died Saturday, May 21, 2022 in Greenbrier County, West Virginia.
Jimmy was born September 13, 1963 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late James Courtney ”Ape” Simpson, Sr. and Joyce Downes Simpson. He was a former Millright for Mead Westvaco of Covington, a CSX Transportation brakeman for nine years, and a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church. He enjoyed horseshoes, golf, and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, and was an avid Washington Redskins fan.
He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Kyle D. (Boo) Watts, Jr.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Kathy Fury Simpson, a son, James Courtney “Corey” Simpson III, and a daughter, Hallie Mae Simpson, all of Clifton Forge; three sisters, Pamela Watts of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Phyllis Lawhorn and husband Donnie of White Rock Gap, Covington, and Joy Jackson and husband Tom of Smoot, WV; a brother, Michael Simpson and girlfriend, Rebecca Kimberlin of Selma; a number of nieces and nephews; and special pets, Tiny and Hiney.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Mr. Chris Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge. Pallbearers will be Scotty Averill, William Lawhorn, Donnie Lawhorn, Buster Craft, Mark Johnson, and Tommy Jackson. The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon from 1:00 PM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
