Obituary for Marie Dolores Martin (Berkheiser)

Marie Dolores Marguerite Martin, age 94, of The Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation Center, Low Moor and formerly of Ridgeview Apartments at Scott Hill and of Forest Hills, Clifton Forge died Friday, June 10, 2022.

She was born February 6, 1928 in Blakely, Pennsylvania to the late Willard K. Berkheiser and Mary Lucille Hudak. She began work as a switchboard operator for New Jersey Bell Telephone Company and later worked for Glaser Steers Mfg, Tung-Sol Electric, Eastern Tool, and Tung-Sol Electric Wagner Division among others. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Mgsr. Doane Fourth Degree Assembly Knights of Columbus.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Stephen Andrew Martin; two brothers, Willard Berkheiser, Jr. and David Berkheiser; and special friends, Ita M. and Eileen M. Breslin.

She is survived by her daughter, Rev. Mary A. Cochran and husband, Rev. Joseph of Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Stephanie Spiller and husband, Yancy of Daleville, Eileen Dziok of Clifton Forge, and Jonathan Windle and wife Charissa of Forest Hill, WV; a great grandson, Zachary Spiller of Daleville; and special friend and former son in law, James C. Windle of Covington.

In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated. There will be no service at this time. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, New Jersey.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Brian Center Activity Fund, 100 ARH Lane, Low Moor, Virginia 24457.
