Obituary for Norman Herbert Goldberg

Norman Herbert Goldberg, age 86, of 3481 Sagewood Circle, Salem, Virginia died Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke.

He was born September 30, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Lewis Goldberg and Mary Bae Byalick Goldberg. He served in the United States Marine Corp, was a retired electrician for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad and I.E.S Corporation of Roanoke, and was a life member of IBEW. He loved reading and being with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Victor Wayne Goldberg; a brother, Paul Goldberg; two granddaughters, Mary Elizabeth Bryant and Mellissa Bryant; a great grandson, Wyatt Givens; and the mother of his children, Elizabeth Jane Houck Goldberg.

He is survived by a daughter, Roxanna Bryant of Covington; three sons, Nathan Goldberg and wife Deborah of Iron Gate, Kenny Goldberg and Fiancée Sonya Campbell of Clifton Forge, and Keith Goldberg and wife Theresa of Eagle Rock; a sister, Sheila Mayer of New York; three grandchildren, Victor Goldberg, Victoria Goldberg, and Keith Allen Goldberg II; three great grandchildren, Melody Bryant, Jeremiah Bryant, and Kylo Woodson; his partner of 27 years, Rose M. Yopp of Salem; his step children, Jason and Angie, Jon and Lula, Carol Dawne, Mike and Shannon; two sisters-in-law, Vicky and Adam, Jeannie and Ronnie; and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Pastor Shane Hiner and Mr. Chris Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by members of the Curtis A. Smith VFW Post 1033. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
