Obituary for Susie Wilhelm Brinkley

Susie Wilhelm Brinkley, age 84, of 3103 Longdale Furnace Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at The Brian Center – Alleghany, Low Moor, Virginia.
Susie was born August 14, 1937 in Alleghany County to the late Lloyd and Beatrice Ford Wilhelm. She was a store clerk for Owen’s Pharmacy in Clifton Forge for many years, and a member of Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church. She loved her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed cooking and flower gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Wilhelm and Jimmy Wilhelm; and a sister, Clair Cunningham.
She is survived by her husband, Richard K. Brinkley, Sr. of Clifton Forge; two daughters, Tammy B. Thomas and husband Barney of Bedford County and Linda B. Leeman and husband Randy of Clifton Forge; a son, Richard “Kent” Brinkley, Jr. and wife Tammy of Clifton Forge; three sisters, Betty W. Williams of Covington, Alice Fay Deel and husband Wayne of Clifton Forge, and Phyllis Lawrence of Hampton; a brother, Bobby Wilhelm of Clifton Forge; seven grandchildren, Megan Bray and husband Tyler, Adam Thomas, Noah Thomas, Ethan Lewis, Emily Lewis, Laykin Leeman, and Luke Brinkley and wife Ashley; six great grandchildren, James Bray, Charleston Bray, Thomas Bray, Brayden Kegley, Kayleigh Hughes, and Kinsley Hughes; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 2:00 PM in Woodland Church Cemetery, Millboro with Reverend Paul Brokaw and Reverend Brandon Nicely officiating. Interment will immediately follow. Pallbearers will be Susie’s grandsons, Adam Thomas, Noah Thomas, Ethan Lewis, Luke Brinkley, Laykin Leeman, and special friend, Charlie Kahle. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. Following that time of visitation, family and friends will reconvene at the Woodland Church Cemetery for the service.
