Sandra Lynne Thompson, 55, of 216 East Gordon Street, Covington died Friday, July 1, 2022 at her residence.
She was born in Covington, Virginia on February 1, 1967 a daughter of the late James E. Thompson and Barbara L. Womack Thompson. She was a retired School Teacher at Rockbridge County High School. Sandra received a Bachelor degree from Radford University and later a Master degree from James Madison University. She was a World History I and II and United States Government teacher for many years at the High School. Her students called her “Thompson”. She was more than their teacher, she was their mentor. Sandra served as head senior sponsor and department chair of the Social Studies Department. She loved and was loved by everyone she met and will be greatly missed by her friends, students and family.
She is survived by her sister, Cheryl Kocheran and husband Ray; a brother Randy “Cactus” Thompson; a niece Laura Connors and husband Kevin and their son Jack and a number of cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Adam Kocheran.
In keeping with her wishes her body was cremated,
