Obituary for Otis McKinnley Marshall Jr.

Otis McKinnley Marshall, Jr., age 62, of Clifton Forge, VA, left this earthly life to rest and heal, Saturday, July 16, 2022 at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany.

He was born January 16, 1960 in Clifton Forge to Virginia Spinner Marshall Beverly and the late Otis McKinnley Marshall, Sr. He was educated in the Clifton Forge School System and attended Main Street Baptist Church at an early age. He later joined New Beginnings Ministries in Low Moor. He was a driver for Virginia Taxi and employed by Bacova Guild in Low Moor, VA. He was an avid Star Trek fan and always signed off by saying “Kirk Out” instead of goodbye.

Affectionally known as Big O, Mopar, Batman, Kinny, Spoon, and Captain Kirk, to name a few, he loved driving and detailing vehicles and he loved his friends and family, unconditionally. He was a good son, an awesome big brother, a great friend, and an overall kind person. He loved animals and could often be found feeding and caring for local wildlife and his beloved cats.

Otis will be remembered by those who knew him as kind, loving, loyal, and proud of the Marshall name and of the accomplishments of his many family members. He was a very special person and lived life on his own terms.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Maria “Renee’ Marshall and Monica “Yvette” Robinson.

He is survived by his mother Virginia (Curtis) Beverly; two sisters, Pamela Marshall and Latrina (Jimmy) Richmond; three brothers, Timothy (Jennifer) Marshall, Sr., Hubert (Yvette) Marshall, David (Wendy) Marshall; special friends, Richard Colvin, William Allen, Jr., Jimmy Newberry, Gary Hoke, Bruce Greene, Dan Newberry, Scott Marsh, Bobby Colvin, Richard Heighter III, James Vest, Tina Dunbar, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Rev. Leon Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday morning from 10:00AM until time of service.
