Obituary for Marie Hicklin Eisenhower

Marie Hicklin Eisenhower, 89, of 1301 Concord Street, Selma, Virginia, died Friday, July 22, 2022 at the Woodlands Health and Rehab in Clifton Forge.

Mrs. Eisenhower was born in Highland County, Virginia on September 3, 1932 a daughter of the late Rosser Stuart and Twila Phillips Hicklin. She was a homemaker throughout her life and a member of McDowell Presbyterian Church in Highland County. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and sewing, and one of her favorite events was fishing at the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Theodore Eli “Ike” Eisenhower; a son, Robert Theodore "Bobby" Eisenhower; a brother, Lee Hicklin; and 3 sisters, Martha Jenkins, Sue Howdyshell, and Lucy Howdyshell.

She is survived by her devoted granddaughter, Tina Carter and husband Danny of Selma; a sister, Lucille Neil of McDowell; a great grandson, Will Carter; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge with Mr. Chris Fisher officiating. The complete service, including committal, will be conducted at the funeral home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
