Obituary for Patsy Peters Burns
Patsy Peters Burns, age 75, of 332 E. Madison Avenue, Covington, Virginia died Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at LewisGale Hospital – Alleghany in Low Moor, Virginia.
Patsy was born March 10, 1947 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Clyde Eugene and Mary Ruth Nicely Peters. She was a homemaker throughout her life and was a former billing and registration clerk for Emmett Memorial Hospital and Alleghany Regional Hospital. She was also a manager for the Covington Craft Store. She was a member of the Johnson Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, loved bowling and crafts, and was an avid UVA Football and Basketball fan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Leotha Paul Burns.
She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Salyards Bragg, and husband Jim and Amy Salyards Ledford, and husband Eric, both of Covington; three sons, Joseph Salyards, Aaron Burns, and Jason Burns, all of Covington; a sister, Linda Underwood of Selma; two brothers, Eugene Peters of Prince George, and Troy Peters of Covington; eight grandchildren, Ashleigh Tilley, Lauren Bragg, Sydney Bragg, Kaydence Bragg, Kaitlin Bradley, Cristin Creedon, Nathanel Austin Salyards, and Michael Alexander Salyards; seven great grandchildren, Liam Tilley, Claire Tilley, Michael “M.J.” Paxton, Jr., Hannah Grace Paxton, Luna Cummings, Grayson Creedon, and Grayson Salyards; and a number of niece and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Johnson Creek A.R.P. Church, Covington, with Reverend John Howard Burns officiating. Interment will follow in Johnson Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Bragg, Eric Ledford, David Creedon, Troy Peters, Austin Salyards, and Zachary Tillery. The family will visit with friends on Saturday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
