Obituary for Tracey Maydian Leach

Tracey Yvonne Maydian Leach, age 60, of Sharon, Virginia, passed away Monday, August 22, 2022, at the University of Virginia Medical Center while surrounded by loved ones.

Tracey was born on February 20, 1962 at the US Airforce Base in Bentwaters, England, to Tom and Yvonne Maydian. As the daughter of a Master Sergeant in the US Air Force, she lived in many places growing up including Germany, California, Delaware and Oklahoma. She eventually settled in Virginia and was a 1981 graduate of Alleghany High School. She was a loving wife, mother and daughter who sought to take care of those closest to her. She dedicated many years to coaching youth soccer, basketball and tee-ball. She was greatly involved in the community over the years as a board member of the Alleghany Highlands Youth Soccer Association, the Cowpasture River Association, a Girl Scout troop leader and a member of the garden club. Her love for others extended past people as she cared for many Australian shepherd dogs and raised many chickens. She enjoyed spending time with family in the Cowpasture River, at the casino and sightseeing across Virginia and Tennessee.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Bruce Leach of Clifton Forge; her three children, Threy and Samantha Leach of Texas, Rhawny Leach of Charlottesville, Asheby Leach Curry of Clifton Forge; four grandchildren, Landon Curry, Ciera Leach, Jaden Davis and Justin Davis; her mother, Yvonne Maydian; mother-in-law Patricia Leach; three brothers, Tom Maydian, Curtis Maydian and Dale Maydian in addition to many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Maydian; father-in-law Ronald Leach; brother Warren Maydian, and grandson Jacob Leach. In addition, she leaves behind her two Australian shepherd dogs, Hunter and Mia.

Her family is grateful to all of the wonderful clinicians who cared for her over the past several years at the University of Virginia Health System, including her oncologist Richard Hall, MD, Marie Thomas, NP, Gary Mahoney, RN, in addition to Dina Schaper, DO at the West Virginia school of Osteopathic Medicine.

Family will receive visitation from family and friends on Friday, August 26, 2022 from 6-8 pm at Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 27th 2022, at 11:00 at Nicely Funeral Home, followed by a private burial at Sharon Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests that you donate to the American Lung Association at www.action.lung.org
