Obituary for Andrew Harold Conner
Andrew Harold Conner, age 90, of 5794 West Midland Trail, Lexington, Virginia died Monday, August 29, 2022 at the home of his son, 3322 Ellsworth Street N.E., Roanoke, Virginia.
Harold was born May 25, 1932 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late James Andrew and Blanche Ballard Conner. He served in the United States Army Air Corps, was a retired owner/operator for Harold Conner Heating and Air Conditioning Service; and also retired from the Physical Maintenance Department of Virginia Military Institute. He was a member of Central Advent Christian Church, where he served as elder, deacon, trustee, and head of maintenance at the church for many years. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of Lexington, and a beef cattle producer and farmer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Margaret Lewis Conner; a sister, Doris Williams; and two brothers, Palmer Armstrong and Hubert Armstrong.
He is survived by two sons, Donald Andrew Conner of Roanoke and Calvin Lewis Conner of Richmond, two grandchildren, James Andrew Conner and wife Mary Jane, and Sarah Elizabeth Conner; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 3:00 PM in Central Advent Christian Church, Clifton Forge with Reverend Gene Ayers officiating. Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge and also on Thursday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Central Advent Christian Church, 3515 Longdale Furnace Road, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
